In Germany, there is no such site, and finding gardens and parks is not so easy: gardening farms will come up with a search.

We go further with the topic what to see in Brandenburg. This time I describe the regions north of the A10 autobahn. The main place is here Potsdam.

Of course, apart from Berlin and Potsdam, Spreewald, there are not many truly interesting sights in Brandenburg left. There are several ruins of monasteries, many castles rebuilt and converted to other needs, there are a huge number of lakes, but the Brandenburgers were somewhat less fortunate with cultural trips for the day.

Weinheim Altstadt / Weinheim Old town

Weinheim is located in a densely populated strip along the Rhine from Mannheim to Frankfurt. Two autobahns, industrial areas along them, the Mannheim – Heidelberg – Weinheim circular tram – having traveled back and forth to Frankfurt and Mannheim, I never imagined that such a cozy town could be hidden at the foot of the mountains.

Extensive green belt around the old town – Hermannshof Garten, turning into the city park and Exotenwald – makes the visit especially lovely. The picture is complemented by two castles: the picturesque ruins of the 11th century and a fresh one from the 20th century, in the style of historicism.

If you visit palaces (Ludwig’s and other Bavarian-owned palaces), it is highly recommended to look at the annual (or two weeks) museum ticket. The ticket is valid for a year (or two weeks) from the date of purchase. When visiting large museums with a decent cost for the whole family, it quickly pays off.
