Lake Garda South

The most popular of the Lake Garda South are the amusement parks between Lazise and Peschiera, Sigurta Park and the old town of Sirmione. But even smaller sights deserve attention.

The relief in the southern part is plain almost everywhere. The water and beaches are worse than the north as the water flows south and stagnates. The stones are often covered with a gray coating of limestone, which rises when entering the water. Some of the banks are overgrown with reeds, which also indicates a lack of water movement. The reed is clearly visible on Google satellite images.

1. Vallegio sul Mincio

A small fortified picturesque village on the banks of the river – Borghetto. The castle in the city itself, the vast Sigurta park (www.sigurta.it), which will be especially interesting during the period of active flowering.

There is a separate cycle path along the Mincio River that starts in Peschiera and ends in Mantua. You can swim along the river on small boats (when and where – on the site of the natural park www.parcodelmincio.it).

3. Lonato del Garda

Small historical center, large fortress overlooking Lake Garda.

4. Desenzano

Historic center, Roman villa with mosaics.
The city is known for its vibrant nightlife and discos. There is a railway station in the city, from here there are bus lines along the western coast of Garda.

The beaches are located on the road from the center towards Sirmione.

6. Peschiera

The small old town is quite typical: narrow streets, tourists, ice cream. The difference is that the city is surrounded by fort walls. It is not necessary to visit it on purpose. But if the city lies on the way, then it is worth spending an hour walking around it. Parking lots are located along the perimeter of the fort. The beaches are in the northern part, towards Lazise.

From Peschiera, it is very convenient to get to almost any attraction on the lake. There is a railway. Buses run to Verona and along the eastern shore of the lake. There is a bus to Mantua via Valleggio.

7. Amusements parks

Parks go one after another. Easily reachable by bus.

Gardaland is best known for its rides and shows.
Opposite Gardaland is the standard aquarium of the Sea Life chain (you should first look at the reviews before going).
Сanevaworld is a water park.

Movieland is focused on the film industry. Stunt shows, Wild West shows, dancing etc., plus several attractions.

8. Parco Thermale del Garda

Thermal pool in the form of a fairly large lake fed by a thermal spring and a park around it (www.villadeicedri.it). The prices are more reasonable than in Sirmione.

9. Lazise

Lazise can be joined to a visit to a nearby park. It is a small old town and a well-preserved fortress.

10. Zoo-safari Natura Viva

The zoo consists of two parts: a regular zoo and a safari. On safari you can see mainly ungulates. Unlike Safari Ravenna, the second part, which can be visited without a car, is much larger here. During the season you can visit the zoo in the evening. There are discounts for those traveling by public transport (www.parconaturaviva.it).

11. Aquardens

Another thermal pool with a more reasonable price policy than Sirmione (www.aquardens.it).
