Venice is a dream city, a carnival city … A dying city, a tourist feast during the plague … Venice is beautiful and unusual, but it is so difficult to see it for real if you have only a few hours of time.
Therefore, my advice is – be sure to come for a full day, better with an overnight stay and better without the burden in the form of small children, suitcases, group.
Ideally alone, this is a city of loneliness among the crowd.

The Inn Valley from Innsbruck to Kufstein is not only a way to get to the Brenner Autobahn and Italian seeside, but a holiday destination in itself. Are you making a stopover in Innsbruck? Don’t miss Ambras Palace. You can easily combine the visit with the Patscherkofel cable car. Nearby is also Olimpic Ski Jump Bergisel.
Innsbruck enjoys an advantageous location at the crossroads of ravines and roads, where it was simply impossible not to grow big and prosperous. It can be pretty boring here when the weather is bad. But when the weather is nice, you can easily spend several days and not only see a small Innsbruck old town and Ambras Castle, but also hike in the mountains. It is one of the few large cities in the immediate vicinity of mountain peaks and ski slopes. It is not surprising that the Olympic Games have been held here twice.
Hallstatt Ostuferweg is a popular hiking and cycling trail overlooking Hallstatt and Lake Hallstatt. There is also a hiking and cycling trail along the eastern bank of the Hallstattersee (where the railway runs). It is part of a long bike trail that goes to a nearby lake. In some places, it goes along footbridges above the water.
The section of the Loire cycle route from Tours to Villandry deserves a your attentioin, even if you’re not a big fan of cycling. Idyllic landscapes, not too tiring road through the fields with poppies and cornflowers along the slow river and at the end of a beautiful castle with Renaissance gardens.
Villandry combines fine with other castles – as a bicycle, car or bus route to several points.
Annecy, like many cities with canals, is called the second Venice, in this case adding “Savoy”. You can spend a day on beautiful Annecy old town. Menton castle, gorge du Fier, secret gardens, Mount Sambuy – another three days. If you want to relax and swim in the lake, you can spend 10 days not boring. It’s quite expensive though, in my opinion. More available with car. But as a base for regular trips to Chamonix, Annecy is not suitable even with a car – too far away. Just one visit to get to know.
